cafe 82 in Drumnadrochit offers a cozy, welcoming setting ideal for a relaxed brunch or a casual coffee break. Set along the A82, it attracts a mix of locals and travelers, especially those exploring the stunning Loch Ness area who appreciate a calm spot with character and a view.

The café’s atmosphere is comfortably vibrant without being noisy, with cheerful staff who respond thoughtfully to individual needs — whether that’s accommodating special dietary preferences or rearranging seating for a quieter experience. The decor brings a homely, colorful charm with touches like a book swap nook, encouraging lingering over conversation or a good read.

Food here is hearty and generously Scottish, with standout options like the full Scottish Breakfast featuring locally inspired elements such as oatcakes, haggis, black pudding, and homemade smoked baked beans, proving popular with both cyclists and day-trippers. Toasties and salads offer lighter alternatives, including interesting combinations like hummus with roast vegetables or the classic chicken Caesar, all made to order and clearly crafted with care.

Coffee lovers will find strong brews, although those preferring milder, smoother espresso drinks might want to mention specific preferences, as the café’s flat white and other espresso-based drinks lean on the bolder side. Jasmine and green teas round out the hot drink offerings nicely, making it a good stop for tea drinkers too.

The space works equally well for a mid-morning break after a hike or a late breakfast on a slower day, with background music that feels hand-picked and unobtrusive. Connectivity via phone networks is available, supporting a quick check-in or some light remote work if needed.

  • Best for: Brunch and full Scottish breakfasts enjoyed at a calm, colorful café away from main roads
  • Visitors: Locals looking for a thoughtful casual meal and travelers passing through Loch Ness
  • Ideal time: Mornings to early afternoons, especially on quieter weekdays or leisurely weekend mornings

A lovely place for brunch or coffee and cake. We had a lovely brunch and the staff were very accomadating of my son"s needs to have food separated on his plate. The food is delicious and the coffee is excellent and the staff are lovely. We will definitely be back. Highly recommend!

We had brunch and a late breakfast, both dishes were excellent, very tasty and cooked to order. A request to change to a quieter table was attended to swiftly and without fuss.

A very welcome second breakfast (first was a garage contribution) for my husband when he was cycling from Lands End to John O Groats. Pretty good, oatcake, haggis, black pudding, home made smoked baked beans, spinach with mushrooms, plus the usual suspects. V cheerful staff enjoying themselves, with music not out of a can great atmosphere.

Charming country cafe with AMAZING food and teas. Nice background music. Adorable decor, including book swap nook. The coffee was very bitter to my taste, & perhaps they don’t know what a “flat white” is. I was able to get internet signal via my phone plan here.
